  1. Louisa here.
We had an interesting walk on Thursday. Some fruitful discussions were had around the effects of museum displays, and the possibilities of projections in public spaces, but one issue which kept cropping up was about the practicalities of actually asking institutions to allow you to use their spaces. Another (certainly related) discussion was about Light Night and how to apply for it. The marvellous thing about Light Night is that it is designed to give artists access to spaces in and around Leeds that they would not usually be able to utilise to make or display work. As it is run by the council, it is relatively simple for them to ask permission to gain access to unusual sites.
Applications are being looked at until early May. If you are signed up to LVAF you will have been emailed an expression of interest form. The only thing you need to be sure of if you want to apply is that you have a very specific site that you wish to place work in. You only need to write a paragraph outlining your idea (and if it is any good as an idea this should be possible) and email it to the Light Night team. Have a look at the website to get an idea of the diversity of artworks and performances that were in the festival last year.

The person to speak to about this is James Hill, who is very approachable. His email is James.Hill@leeds.gov.uk.
